Final Thoughts:

With their first release, Art of Alchemy Spirits has created a blend of three distinct straight whiskies, including 20 barrels of 3 year 80% rye whiskey, 8 barrels of 6 year 51% rye whiskey, and 12 barrels of 8 year 75% corn bourbon. The 20 barrels of 3 year rye were specifically distilled by famed master distiller, Jim Rutledge. With a predominantly rye whiskey blend, there is a heavy dose of baking spices from nose to finish with allspice and cinnamon complemented perfectly with hits of citrus and mint. The inclusion of a high-corn bourbon lends a strong backbone of sweet oak and almond that balances against those spices. At 110 proof, there is plenty of punch and complexity to bring forth new flavors with each sip. Overall, this a great blend from the team at Art of Alchemy, and I’m looking forward to see what they bring to the table with blend #2 later this year!
